The St. John Sea Dogs of the Quebec league made Stanislas Galiev the first overall pick of the CHL import draft. Like the USHL, each team may have two import players, However, their definition of import is European. US players are not limited.

Anybody watching Galiev last season knows he has the potential to be a first round pick in next year's NHL draft. Would he want to skip out on the Ice? Maybe. If he wants to go to a US college and play there, it's his only choice. If not, then most people would say the OHL is the best Junior league. The "Q" and the USHL are supposed to be pretty much on the same level. You have to figure St. John would at least check ahead of time to see if Galiev would be interested. Hard choice for Stanislav and his family and could be a big blow to the chances for the Ice to repeat as league champions.
